Our kitchen designers pushed the limit and designed a
display kitchen right out of Ridley Scott’s Blade
Runner. This is one of the most advanced state of the art kitchens anywhere in
this world or off world as the case may be. It was displayed during the Architectural Digest Home Design Show this year.
The upper cabinets are bi-fold lift up doors with aluminum
edged high gloss antique white lacquer with color matched antique white
melamine interiors. The lower cabinets are a matte finish vertical grain
coconut with integrated C-channel hardware. The cabinet’s interiors feature touch sensitive electronic servo drive roll out shelves with high-tech stainless steel
accessories and L.E.D. under cabinet lighting system which could be controlled by an Ipad.
The countertop is an antique white metallic ceramic
over lava stone hand crafted in Deruta, the ceramic heart of Italy. The
back splash tile is also hand made metallic copper ceramic inspired by Mayan
design motif and the FrankLloyd Wright tile
from the Ennis
House, featured in the movie Blade Runner.

The devastation of hurricane Sandy will be felt for many weeks to come.
The employees of Manhattan Center for Kitchen and Bath were fortunate enough to have made it
through without too many difficulties compared to others. Our showroom was
undamaged in the hurricane, but it remains without power, which means all of
our servers are down including email and phones. Con Ed has given an estimate
of this weekend or early next week. For all of our customers please bear with
us while we play this waiting game. Be assured that our designers are doing
their best to work from home during this trying time.
Thank you for your patience.
Authentic Coney Island Boardwalk reclaimed wood flooring by Manhattan Forest Products
NYC’s most famous playground, Coney Island , has been undergoing a face lift for some time. Sections of the boardwalk are being replaced with concrete and synthetic wood. The species of wood (such as ipe) that was used for years as decking, are being depleted due to the deforestation of the Amazon rain forests.
The Coney Island Boardwalk construction began in 1921. It opened on May 15, 1923. It’s almost 90 years old! It’s 80 feet wide, 2 miles long and contains about 1.3 million boards. These boards have seen it all. They've withstood hurricanes (Hurricane Donne 1960), caravans of garbage trucks, sand, wind, sun and millions of visitors. These boards have inspired artists (“Under the Boardwalk, The Drifters, 1960). The boardwalk has given shade to those ducking underneath, and privacy for those seeking a smooch. Over 100 movies have been made on the Coney Island Boardwalk including, American Gangster, Street's of Gold, The Pick Up Artist, and Brighton Beach Memoirs just to name a few.
Think of the rich history of this place. Picture the first round of immigrants coming here to let loose and blow off steam. They experienced the freak shows, the Cyclone roller coaster (built in 1927), the street food, and live music. What a spectacle it was and still is. Today you can watch the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest (66 in 12 minutes!), participate in the Mermaid parade (sea creatures galore), ride the same Wonder Wheel your Grandparents rode (built 1918), pay a quarter to use the bathroom, make a wish to Zoltar and see a two headed gerbil all in one day! The Coney Island Boardwalk is a symbol of NYC. It’s a wonderful, crazy, charmingly tacky symbol, part of our history, part of our past, part of us.
Since that time, Coney Island has seen many renovations and we were fortunate enough to offer a piece of history by carrying MFP reclaimed wood flooring, now you can too.
