Here at MCK+B, we are a charitable group and last year alone we helped raise almost sixty thousand dollars for Charity Water, an organization dedicated to building wells in places without access to clean drinking water. We take pride in the products and materials that we offer and especially the company we keep.

Excelsior Wood Products is featured in our Manhattan showroom with beautiful reclaimed wood flooring, antique wall panels and hand made wood features. Not only do they help preserve the environment for future generations by reusing materials that create a smaller ecological footprint, they are all around heartwarming good Americans. We were inspired by Excelsior Wood Products recent participation to help a family here in New York, on the Extreme Makeover Home Edition TV show, so we are re-posting their letter here. We were absolutely blessed to be a part of Extreme Makeover's Home Edition benefiting the Korpai family in Crawford, NY. They have an adorable five year old daughter who has dwarfism. This has inspired the family to become advocates for increasing understanding and reducing ignorance toward little people.

As you likely know, all materials and time are donated by hundreds of volunteers. When we arrived at the building site we were struck by the sea of vehicles and huge number of folks working hard to construct this home. It puts an instant smile on your face and joy in your heart to see so many come together to give. There is nothing like one of these building sites. It's a beautiful, chaotic mess which somehow ties itself into a lovely organized bow in one week!

When we were contacted by Extreme Home Makeover's staff they asked us to give what we could. How could we refuse? We felt so grateful to be a part of this. The enthusiasm of the Extreme Makeover staff, the magnitude of the project and the generous spirit of the collective group of volunteers were inspiring. We decided to add some style and flavor to this project. So, we gave about 1000 SF of antique heart pine (reclaimed from the Revere Sugar Refinery in Brooklyn, NY), about 400 ft of wood reclaimed from the Coney Island Boardwalk, 200 square foot of reclaimed oak and another 200 square foot of reclaimed mushroom wood. We donated the material and our production guys donated their time and labor to mill the material. What charitable employees we have! The designers we met with had some creative ideas for the material. They mentioned using it for ceiling paneling, finish trim, furniture and outdoor garden benches.

If you look carefully during the episode you may see some touches of Excelsior Wood Products.

When we drove there to make the delivery it poured rain for the entire hour drive. Tom and I rode in the flatbed. Ron, Christina, Hannah and Rachel rode the Ural motorcycle with the side cart. They were soaked. We arrived at the site and were surprised to find that it hadn't rained a single drop. The crew didn't experience any delays due to the nasty weather. To top it off, there was a rainbow arcing over the building site. Ron looked at me and said "Now that is karma."

A Night In Spain at Manhattan Center For Kitchen and Bath sponsored by MILA and KWC

In the perfect kitchen you can be anywherein the world. For this event, we chose Spain,next year maybe Switzerland,Hungary or Greece.

The festive night in Spain featured a live water fountain with nine foot olive branches, live Flamenco guitar and dancers. The red and white sangria was made to order by the bar tenders. The wonderful Paella, and passed Spanish hors d’oeuvres were created by our private corporate chef.

This is our first annual "A Night in Spain" event transporting our guests to a different location around the world each year. The MCK+B's showroom is a one-stop destination for all trade professionals.

HUGE SHOWROOM DISPLAY SALE

It’s that time of year again when we need to sell off some of our floor models, to make room for new kitchen showroom displays. In addition to what is listed below, we currently have many appliances for sale, bathroom fixtures and vanities. 1. Irpinia, custom kitchen display for sale. The originalprice was $20,000. It is now on sale for $15,000. This run of custom kitchencabinets could be used in a bar area, or for storage in any room. You couldorder a new panel for different appliances to cover the cutout for the oven, ororder new doors for storage. The cabinets are painted an exotic blue metallic,with a high-gloss poly finish. All hardware, stainless steel drawer inserts andthe toe kick drawer are included. The Turbo Chef double oven is not included,but it is for sale separately. It is valued at $9,995. Now, it is on sale for$8,500. Dimensions are approximate: Length 12 ft. 10 in. Depth at the largescurve point is approximately 36 in. and at the lowest point, 24 inches.

2. Irpinia, full custom kitchen display for sale.The original price was $45,000. It is now on sale for $20,000. This customkitchen is rift cut white oak with horizontal grain for the lower cabinets, endpanels and fly-over. This kitchen features frosted glass, aluminum uppers withglass shelves and storage unit. All stainless steel hardware, drawer inserts andthe toe kick drawer are included. The countertop is Lagos Blue Caesarstone,which is also included. The sink is a 16-inch Franke sink included. TheDornbracht faucet is not included but it is for sale. The retail price of theDornbracht faucet is $2,021, now on sale for $1,000. The appliances are notincluded. The hood is for sale separately. It is a Faber, Stilo 36 inch IslandHood valued at $1,385. Now, it is on sale for $900. The Italian glassbacksplash is not included, because most likely it will be destroyed when thekitchen is removed. If for some reason it can be saved, we will include it withthe display, but there are no guarantees. Download the floor plan, and elevation here.

3. Hand made, red oak bar top by Spekva. Thisbeautiful oak top has a natural oil finish custom made in Denmark for ourshowroom. This top is made of hand-sorted staves in different lengths, whichensures high quality and a visually elegant surface. It’s made with tongue andgroove joints resulting in a long lasting worktop. Unfortunately, it cannot becut down because of steel reinforcements inside the top. The original price was$30,000. It is now on sale for $15,000. The dimensions are approximately:Length, 14 ft. 8 in. Depth, 23 ½ inches. Height, 43 inches. The top is 4 inchesthick all the way around.

4. This office is Millbrook custom cherry cabinetswith plywood construction. Desktop is Blue Louise Granite also known as VanGogh ¾ inch thick. Unfortunately, the desktop will most likely break when weremove it so we do not guarantee that this will be sold with the officecabinetry. Original price $9,000. Saleprice $5,000.

5. American made Quality Custom Cabinetry displayfor sale. This custom cabinetry can be used for a home office, entertainmentroom, or kitchen/wet bar. All custom cabinets are framed solid mahoganycabinetry, with plywood construction. The countertops are dark Emperador marble imported from Spain, and they are included. The original price of this custom display was$22,000. It is on sale now for $10,000. All appliances are not included.

Architectural Digest Home Design Show Success

This is our fourth year exhibiting at the Architectural Digest HomeDesign Show. This year was definitely the best one we have done. It was sosuccessful, that we are already planning our new and improved exhibit for nextyear. This year we exhibited the American Made RUTT walnut, custom cabinetry featuring a curved island and remote controlled upper cabinets.
